Day two · Sunday 13 September
Aberystwyth to Bronllys
Mid Wales, and the most remote miles of the weekend. Up over Devil’s Bridge and through the Elan Valley to the Claerwen dam, then across Mynydd Epynt to Brecon and lunch at Bronllys. The format changes after that: no fixed afternoon route this year.

The 2026 Weekender has been and gone
It ran on Saturday 12 – Sunday 13 September 2026 and is now over. Everything below stays online as a record of the weekend — the start points, the routes, the stops and the timings are all still here. The satnav files are the one thing that has gone.
About the route filesStart point
A simple start to the day. Grab a coffee and something to eat if you have not already, but be ready to leave on time. If the car park is full there is room on the adjacent street.

- If you did not fill up yesterday, the Morrisons is on the opposite side of the roundabout.
Morning route
Inland and up. The climb out of Aberystwyth leads to the reservoir roads of the Elan Valley — narrow, remote and among the most scenic miles of the weekend.

Good to know
- Timings are approximate.

- Parking can be awkward depending on how busy they are, so please be patient while we get everyone safely parked.
Afternoon and farewells
New for 2026: there is no set afternoon route. With a number of Weekenders heading home after lunch, the plan is simply to pick a few good local roads on the day for anyone who wants to keep driving. Options get discussed over lunch and we go from there.
Good to know
- Nothing like the distance of a full leg — a couple of hours at most, so everyone gets home safely and in good time.
- There are no satnav files for the afternoon, since the roads are chosen on the day.
