Trophy Welsh Weekender

Event guidelines

Code of conduct

We're all here for a great time on some of the best roads Wales has to offer. To keep things fun, safe and respectful for everyone, we have put together a few simple guidelines.

Everyone who comes along signs a pre-event agreement covering the points below. They are published here so you can read them well before the weekend, rather than for the first time in a car park in Llangollen.

Why this matters

The Weekender is a fun, social gathering. It most definitely is not a race.

For the safety of our group and other road users it is important that we drive respectfully and responsibly. If conditions permit we may push on from time to time, but always in a safe and sensible manner. Drive at a pace you are comfortable with. If poor or intimidating driving is in evidence, those responsible will be asked to leave immediately.

Drive safe, stay legal

  • Drive sensibly and within the law at all times.
  • Stick to the speed limits and obey all road signs.
  • No racing, dangerous overtakes or showing off — keep it smooth and smart.
  • Absolutely no driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are overly tired.

Be cool to others

  • Be respectful to fellow drivers, passengers, locals and other road users.
  • Give people space — do not tailgate or pressure anyone to go faster than they want to.
  • This is not a competition. Everyone should feel comfortable at their own pace.

Make sure your car's good to go

  • Your car needs to be road legal — insurance, tax, MOT, and in safe condition.
  • Please give it a once-over before the trip: brakes, tyres, lights, fluids and the rest.
  • You are responsible for your own car and for anyone riding with you.

Group driving etiquette

  • We drive as a group or convoy — keep things tidy, responsible and predictable.
  • Do not impede traffic. Stay alert and let local traffic pass where it is safe to do so.
  • Try to hold a reasonable and consistent pace, and be mindful of your fellow Weekenders.
  • If you get separated from the group, do not rush or panic. We regroup at the next stop.

General conduct

  • Be on time for meet-ups and route briefings so we can keep things running smoothly.
  • Listen to any instructions from the organisers or route leads — they are there to help.
  • Keep things friendly and positive. No drama, no egos.
  • If someone is being reckless or causing issues they may be asked to sit the rest out. In serious cases we will involve the appropriate authorities.

Breakdowns and emergencies

  • If something goes wrong, pull over safely and let one of the organisers know. If you see a fellow Weekender in trouble, please offer assistance if it is safe to do so.
  • Bring a phone, your driving documents and any essentials you might need — just in case.

Ask first

Questions about any of this?

Ask before the weekend rather than on the day. The organisers are reasonable and approachable, and would far rather answer a question early than sort out a misunderstanding at a fuel stop.
